Develop your understanding of alcohol and help others consider their drinking habits using proven techniques.
This one day course has been funded by Stockton Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) and is available for free to public sector staff working with adults in Stockton-On-Tees.
The course will boost your knowledge and give you simple conversational tools you can use with most alcohol drinkers; helping them consider the impact of their drinking on their lives.
The training will be delivered by either Matt Hayman, we’ll start at 9:30am, and finish at 3:30pm.
By the end of the course you will be:
1) Familiar with basic information about alcohol, including units, levels of drinking and impact on health and well-being.
2) Confident in the use of a basic screening tool – to help you quickly identify people who would benefit from brief interventions.
3) Able to deliver simple brief interventions to clients who are drinking at ‘increasing-risk’ and ‘higher-risk’ levels.
4) Aware of local services and referral pathways which clients can be referred to if they are identified as requiring a higher level of intervention
All training will take place at The Education Centre in Stockton, refreshments are provided, joining instructions will be sent once we have received your booking, if you have any questions please contact us.
